To commemorate Russia’s invasion of Crimea, after the Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia, Vladimir Putin decides to invade the whole of Ukraine after the Beijing Winter Olympics. War is nothing new in Ukraine, after the country’s invasion and annexation of Crimea by Russia in 2014, the Eastern part of Ukraine, the Donbass experienced a low intensity conflict ever since, making harder the lives of the Ukrainian citizens in the war’s frontier.

21 Dec: Slovakia, an unexpected nuclear power

Among the unexpected major nuclear powers in the EU, Slovakia stands out by its energy production profile , quite unique. Thanks to an unique public policy that started in the 1960, when Czechoslovakia was still a country, the Slovakian government have been expanding nuclear capacities continiously. Today, Slovakia produces more than 60% of its energy from Nuclear sources and is on the way to even surpass France in the biggest consumer of nuclear energy in its energy breakdown. The concept of free movement between European countries is quite ancient, dating all the way back to the middle ages. Whereas in modern times, this notion has been debated since since Europe faced devastation as a result of the Second World War. However, tangible measures in this direction occurred only during the 1980s, when Europe was mired in an endless argument between two opposing factions: one that supported the idea of a free Europe with no internal border checks between countries, and the other that was adamantly opposed.
