Blue Europe is pleased to announce the winners of the 2024–2025 “Denis de Rougemont” student contest, an initiative that fosters rigorous, public-minded scholarship on the ties between Western and Central-Eastern Europe. Selected works are chosen for originality, clarity, depth, and relevance to Blue Europe’s mission of strengthening dialogue across the continent. The original context page can be found here.

Winners

1st Prize – €1,000
Vladimir Borovets (Open University) — “A European Future for Ukraine? From a strong commitment to vague promises from the EU”

2nd Prize – €500
Marco Uncini (University of Bologna) — “Trieste in the New Eurasian Geopolitics: Strategic Hub between the Belt and Road Initiative and Euro-Atlantic Defence”

The jury evaluated submissions on originality, analytical depth, and alignment with the contest’s aims. Winning and selected papers will be featured on Blue Europe’s website.

Blue Europe

Blue Europe is an independent, non-profit and privately funded think tank based in Luxembourg, France and Poland. Made up of several organizations and experts working together, its vision is to develop exchanges between Western, Central and Eastern Europe, particularly at the economic and public policy levels. This is achieved by launching networking and co-design processes with local actors, contributing with policy recommendations and publishing impactful analyses.
